Okay - readers - gotta vote more on the polls! The first poll showed that people were fairly split on how much a couple spends on date night (yep, that's right - all 3 of us who voted!). Need some suggestions for keeping the cost down?
1. check out a local community website or newspaper for free music events
2. catch a late matinee movie and then go to your fave coffee shop for a drink (as opposed to expensive dinner and then evening movie)
3. pack a picnic and find a fun spot to enjoy it
4. for a fancy dinner - dress up at home, open a bottle of wine, and beg your mom (or best friend) to make a nice dinner that you don't have to prepare
Any other ideas out there?

Here are some of our favorite cheap dates, and they aren't always at night:
1. A breakfast date. Even at a finer restaurant, it's still not as expensive as dinner.
2. Dinner out is usually one appetizer, one entree to share that comes with one salad, an additional small salad, and no alcohol. Portions are sooo large, we don't walk away hungry.
3. Rent a movie (or get it at the library) and make popcorn with the air popper.
4. Sam's Club on Saturday mornings to "taste test" all the samples of goodies they are promoting.
5. Subway $5 foot-long for a picnic with chips and water from home. And, sometimes that picnic is in our living room.
Actually, Sonny Boy and I have had "brunch" at Costco a number of Sat mornings :) He buys me a fizzy diet coke, and then we walk through the store, eating as we go!
